Welcome!

2005 St Ignace truck show

Welcome to Truck Show Magic!

First and foremost, I am a storyteller, not a writer! I have let to many stories fade with lost memories because I stressed over the the fact that writing correctly can be draining to me especially if I have not written consistently. I hope with time and practice that will change.

I  started this blog at the request of our truck show friends to share the heartwarming and fun experiences Andy and  I (Andy’s Mom) have had  at the truck shows we attend and maybe a few other non related posts occasionally thrown in. In all the years of attending these shows I have found there is always magic that happens at the truck show! The name of this page came from some thoughts I jotted down  a couple years ago.

Truck Show Magic

How does one put on paper the gasp someone makes when a beautiful or magical moment takes away his or her breath? You know that sound. It is the sound a small child makes when they feel the magic of Christmas. And it is the sound Andy makes when we come around the curve and top the hill, and the St Ignace Truck show magically appears below. He gasps at the exhibition of the shined and polished big rigs before us, glistening in the St Ignace sun. The months of anticipation breaks: “WE’RE HERE! WE’RE HERE!” he exclaims.

I wanted to share that piece of magic I look forward to each year but you never get to see. That one moment when the truck show first appears is my favorite, and I want to thank each of you for giving me this gift for the last 14 years. Yes, he does share his joy and love of big rigs with anyone who takes the time to notice, or anyone who is within earshot of him when a horn blasts or a rig starts. But I am the only one to experience that brief magical moment.

I believe his favorite parts of the truck show are looking at himself in the reflections of those polished rigs, visiting the vendors, gathering anything with a truck picture, and any time trucks are moving or making noise! His limited vocabulary does not seem to hinder anyone’s understanding of his passion for all things trucks.

I know the St Ignace Truck show is not just for Andy, but the warmth and the compassion the truckers, vendors, sponsors, and staff show him year after year makes us feel like it is. That is a great feeling!

Thank you very much to each of you for making Andy’s truck show weekends special and welcome to Truck Show Magic!
